In addition to innovation activities carried out by BASF business units as well as the corporate R&D functions, BASF Future Business (BFB) pursues entirely new directions for growth through corporate venturing activity. As a global team, BFB identifies future business fields and scouts for relevant technology which fit these new areas. The talk will describe BFBs approach to scouting & strategy in the mega trend fields energy, electronics, health and environment.
Speaker: Jacob Wildeson is responsible for Technology Scouting & Strategy in North America at BASF Future Business GmbH. He develops emerging market strategies and builds relationships with start up companies, innovators and universities with the goal of adding new technologies to the BFB portfolio leveraging BASF's core competencies in chemistry and materials. Jacob analyzes mega trends and problems related to the environment, energy management, and human health. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the Texas A&M University, and has worked at BASF for 8 years.
